The Memorial Society is a non-profit, non-denominational organization for those who believe in preplanning simple, dignified final arrangements at a reasonable cost.

Ever Wonder What Would Happen If You Died Tomorrow?

    Do you have a plan?

Without answers to these simple questions, money may be spent needlessly, and it may take weeks, months or even years to uncover your assets, locate documents and ensure that your heirs find what rightly belongs to them. In fact some of these assets may be lost forever. Most importantly, in times of grief and shock, it’s next to impossible to think straight or act like a detective.

Below are some important questions to answer that should ensure all your wishes are respected.

Did you keep a copy of your designation form, and send copies to all of your children? (Please do this so your immediate family knows what to expect. This will make the task that much easier for the person who is in charge of your final arrangements.)

Did you tell them where the documentation is to your burial plot?

Did you tell them where the deed is to your house?

Did you tell them where your mortgage insurance policy is, and what company issued it?

Did you tell them what bank you use, the account numbers and complete information regarding any direct deposits and payments?

Did you make a will? Did you tell them who drew it up, where it is located and who is the executor?

Did you tell them where your tax returns are kept and who your accountant or tax person is?

Did you tell them the numbers of all the credit cards you have?

Did you tell them where your insurance policies are and who your agent is?

Did you tell them where your RRSP’s, Canada Savings Bonds or other retirement savings are?

Did you tell them where your tax deferred annuities are?

Did you tell them where and what is in your safety deposit box and who can access it?

Did you tell them where your birth certificates and marriage license is?

Did you tell them about your valuables and where the documents of authenticity are? ( jewelry, art, stamp and other collections)

Did you keep the Society informed as to any changes that must be made to your designation form, for example, changes regarding your final arrangements, your marital status or address?

Make a plan. Join the Memorial Society and make your plans known.
