The Memorial Society is a non-profit, non-denominational organization for those who believe in preplanning simple, dignified final arrangements at a reasonable cost.

What Does the Memorial Society Recommend?

  • We recommend that you set aside money to pay for a funeral by opening a bank account in your own name. Label it “to be held in trust for funeral expenses as needed,” so that you are the one who receives all the interest, and you are charged no fee penalties.

  • We recommend that you talk over your ideas with friends and relatives before you make your decisions, and then record your plans, but not prepay them.

  • Keep careful records of what you decide, and be sure to inform your next-of-kin. In some cases, the records of pre-paid payments were lost.
